Berlin, January, 21, 2019: „From pork to wine“: All agricultural sectors are represented at the 44th TOP seminar of the Andreas-Hermes-Akademy (AHA) 2019. 25 junior staff ranging from agricultural master to farm manager, students and alumni of the agricultural sciences are undertaking since the beginning of january a nine week long closed retreat for personal development.
The world of agricullture has become very complex. Turning off the fertilizer spreader and planning crop rotations are practical finger exercises but today's agriculture is so much more. The TOP seminar focuses on team-oriented personal development of the junior staff who will be in charge of the future communication in the industry. „The focus here is the human“, said a participant of lasts years seminar. The participants of the seminar are taking part in several excursion to Frankfurt, Berlin, Brussels, Rome and Casablanca.
The PeaceBread Association hosted the 4th FORUM PeaceBread on October 16th 2018 with the topic: „For Solidarity and confidence – Experiences at the interface of politics and the civil society“.
Moderated by Catarina Zanner from the rbb (Radio Berlin Brandenburg) Maria Michalk, chairwoman of the Council for Sorbian Affiars in Saxonia and Kees de Vries, Dutch-German farmer and politician (Member of the German Parliament Bundestag) emphasized the value of community involvement and referred to a treasure of personal experiences with their families, associations and also politics. The 4th FORUM PeaceBread took place once again in cooperation with the Berlin Club of Agricultural Diplomats and the Berlin Wall Foundation.
5th European Annual Conference „Peace and Agriculture“ in Sangaste Castle, Estonia and Koni, Latvia from September 26th to 28th 2018
The Estonian Rye Association (NPO Eesti Rukki Selts), the Latvian Center for Rural Consulting and Education (SIA "Latvijas Lauku konsultāciju un izglītības centrs") the Estonian Minister of Rural Affairs, Mr. Tarmo Tamm as well as the Latvian Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Jānis Dūklavs, organized together and for the first time, transnational, the fifth Annual Conference „Peace and Agriculture“ at Sangaste Castle, Estonia and in Koni, Latvia.
Berlin, August 2018. Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture Julia Klöckner has now officially taken over the patronage for the PeaceBread project. She continues the tradition of her predecessors since Ilse Aigner. The PeaceBread Association is equally happy and honored about the decision of the Federal Minister: "With the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture and our patron Minister Klöckner at its head we have a valuable and reliable partner at our side to maintain and deepen the dialogue about agriculture and peace over borders. The great and long-term support and connection with the Ministry of Agriculture has a signaling effect in our partner countries along the former Iron Curtain. It is and it will stay a sign for how precious the interaction between civil society and politics in the European debate about agriculture is."
Potsdam, June, 24, 2018: For 70ty years the Andreas-Hermes-Academy (AHA) offers top-level training possibilities, and for 30ty years especially the Farmers- and Entrepreneurs (bus) for businesses from the agricultural and food sector and the rural areas. Among the congratulants at this year´s bus-celebration (bus-Fest) with approximately 200 people was the PeaceBread Association. Its chairman Adalbert Kienle thanked the Andreas-Hermes-Academy for inviting PeaceBread time and again for a meeting to talk about the connections of agriculture and peace in Europe. At the end of the anniversary celebration the collection from the ecumenical service was given to PeaceBread for its free disposal. Adalbert Kienle emphasized that the PeaceBread Association always refers to the biblical proverb: „He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding“.
Leipzig, June 16th 2018. The promotional organisation Albrecht Daniel Thaer e.V. organized an event together with the Albrecht-Daniel-Thaer-Institute for Agricultural – and Veterinary Science at the University of Leipzig, the Economical Society of Leipzig and the BBG Bodenbearbeitungsgeräte Leipzig GmbH und Co. KG about „Albrecht Daniel Thaer and the development of agricultural engineering in Leipzig“. For the Thaer-friends and the attending PeaceBread- members Prof. Dr. Frank Ellmer, Dr. Wilfried Hübner, Adalbert Kienle and Dr. Gibfried Schenk the picture taken at the Monument of the Battle of the Nations at Leipzig was an honour and pleasure at the same time.

4th Annual European Conference „Peace and Agriculture“ in Varna, Bulgaria September 27th-2 9th 2017
The Bulgarian National Grain Producers Association and the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Mr. Rumen Porodzanov were the hosts of the annual European Conference for „Peace and Agriculture“, now for the 4th time, at the black sea health resort Varna.
Berlin – Riga: August 4th until August 8th 2017. Chairman Adalbert Kienle and the representatives of the managing office Marion and Gibfried Schenk paid a visit to Latvia. The main goals of this journey were talks with our Estonian and Latvian partners. We also visited several venues in Latvia in preparation for the fifth annual conference „ Peace and Agriculture“. For the first time in the history of the PeaceBread Association the conference will take place in two countries simultaneously, Estonia and Latvia. Our partners from Latvia prepared a wonderful program for us!
Berlin, 2017, 1st of August: The rye field by the chapel of reconciliation had been tilled for the twelfth time in the fall of 2016. The plant stock developed good, made it through the winter and progressed rather positively in the spring of 2017.

Berlin. May 20th 2017. Agriculture and our daily bread, reconciliation and peace, remembrance and future. Is there a better place than the rye field by the Chapel of Reconciliation to talk about this, the place where the PeaceBread started.
Berlin, May 9th 2017. The festive awards ceremony for the Berlin Europa Price Blue Bear (Blauer Bär) took place on May 9th, Europe Day. The PeaceBread Association was one of 21 nominees, groups and individuals, who had been recommend for the Europa Price. Even though PeaceBread was not awarded with one of the three prices, the nomination alone by the senate administration for culture and Europe has been an honour and distinction.
Berlin, April 6th 2017. The management and chair of PeaceBread are done by civic engagement. The 6th of April can pose as an example for the service in this civic project:
A dialogue with the Union of German Millers takes place in the afternoon at the site of the Berlin Wall Memorial on Bernauer Street. The Union wants to acknowledge their 150 year anniversary in Berlin with a visit to the project „PeaceBread“. Three busses full with guests from Germany and other European countries are expected.
Berlin, March 2nd 2017. Since the founding of the PeaceBread Association in 2012 the sitting Federal Minister for Food and Agriculture – today Christian Schmidt- is the patron of the project PeaceBread in which 12 partner countries are participating. „ It is impressing what the initiative is doing and getting underway to address the questions of peacekeeping and the contribution agriculture can bring to this. The Federal Ministry for Food and Agriculture would like to accompany this civic engagement further into the future.“ Dr. Herrmann- Otto Aeikens, State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for Food and Agriculture emphasized this in a meeting on March the 3rd with the chairman and the managing director of the PeaceBread Association, Adalbert Kienle und Dr. Gibfried Schenk.
„We are impressed and excited about the fact that so many young people are interested in the PeaceBread project. “ This was concluded by Adalbert Kienle and Dr. Gibfried Schenk from the Association PeaceBread after respective meetings with the TOP course of the Andreas-Hermes-Academy Bonn as well as the basic course of the Swabian Famers School Bad Waldsee.
